Brother Kurien Mathew was born in Kerala, India in an Orthodox Syrian family. After high school, he went on to a Technical College where he received his Telecommunications Diploma. He moved to the State of Gujarat where he worked as a Police Officer in the State Reserve Police Force.

Later, Bro. Kurien moved to Mumbai (formerly Bombay) and worked there briefly. Soon he came to the United States. He married Sosamma and they are blessed with three children, Samuel, Susan and John. Bro. Kurien got saving grace of Jesus Christ through the Radio Ministry of Late Pastor K.V. Kurien.

During the summer of 1983, while he was shopping in West Fordham road, Bronx, NY, he met a group of people evangelizing in the streets. He served them with refreshments and gave all the money he had. While he was leaving, the Pastor called him back and handed him the microphone to give his testimony. The Pastor prayed and anointed Bro. Kurien and asked him to do the street ministry. Brother Kurien Mathew still doesn’t know who that Pastor was. (Please contact Bro. Kurien Mathew if anybody could recall the incident.)

The above incident inspired him to serve Jesus Christ and start street evangelization through distributing gospel tracts and Bibles in the busy streets of New York .The response to his work was mixed. Some people cursed at him and did not accept and some of them accepted and threw it out. Due to this bad experience, he started to make big signboards to hold during tracts distribution. At times, on the request of Bro.Kurien, Rev. Dr. M.S.Samuel came and preached the gospel in the street.

In 2004, while Bro Kurien was stopped at a traffic signal at 49th Street and 5th Ave, a man of God, a perfect stranger, approached him by holding a Bible and advised him to read Mathew 22:8,9 which reads, "Then He said to His servants, the wedding is ready but those who were invited were not worthy: therefore go into the highway and as many as you find, invite to the wedding." This particular incident reinforced his calling for this ministry and shared this with Rev.John Johnson and Rev. Joseph Samuel who blessed and prayed for him and his wife Sosamma.

Bro. Kurien and Sis. Sosamma are doing the ministry since then in different parts of New York City.
